Cocktail Drink Measures

In Australia we refer to a 'nip' of alcohol as being 30ml, approximately 1 ounce for our imperial friendly friends :)

The main thing that you have to remember when mixing a cocktail to keep the proportions correct. You probably don't want to be serving cocktails that have anymore than 3 standard nips per glass in them though or your guests will get plastered very quickly! So adjust and add more mixer if needed, or use a smaller glass to serve the drink in. Be mindful if guests have to drive home, you don't want to delude anybody into thinking that they're right to drive if they are half tanked.

And... a tip from an old bar tender. If you can't find the nip pourer, as you pour the alcohol into the shaker count to 5 and you should pour around about one nip. That's counting to 5 as in... "one-mis-sis-sip-pi" DON'T count 5 'real time' seconds or you'll have far too much alcohol in the shaker :)
