Mixing Cocktails

Most Cocktails are mixed in a Cocktail Shaker. Cocktail Shakers are a great investment if you plan on making cocktails on a regular basis. Cocktail Shakers have a built in strainer which is fantastic as it stops the ice from going into the glass once you have finished shaking your drink thoroughly to blend the ingredients. Some cocktails require even more rigorous blending and for those I generally recommend a blender - even a hand held one will do the trick nicely.

Unless the recipe specifies to use crushed ice (like crushed ice margaritas - yum!) use big ice cubes so that you don't water down your cocktail too much during the construction process.

For creamy cocktails make sure that you use thickened cream, it's the best!

Make sure that you clean your cocktail shaker between drinks, and use fresh ice each time as well for best results.

To decorate your drinks, have some fresh fruits on hand such as cherries, strawberries, or limes, even pineapple. Some toothpicks will come in handy too, as will those little paper umbrellas. Special!
